EXPERIENCE

DIRECTOR OF TEACHING AND LEARNING
American International School – Chennai / India / 2011 - 2016

Primary responsibilities included leading and collaborating with the school leadership team on all aspects of the development, implementation and supervision of teaching and learning at AISC. This encompassed serving as the internal coordinator for both CIS/MSA accreditation and strategic planning. Additional duties included ensuring the successful execution of the yearly curriculum development and review cycle, leading continuous program improvement and development for student support services (counseling, special education and English as an Additional Language), recruiting and hiring, providing oversight, supervision and/or guidance to principals, coordinators and the teaching and learning coaches, and creating a long-term plan for and delivery of teacher and administrator professional learning and development.

MEMBER OF NESA's PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PDAC) 
2012 - 2016

Members of the Professional Development Advisory Committee (PDAC) work with the NESA Center Staff to organize the various NESA conferences and institutes. Made up of educational leaders from around the region, the PDAC meets three times a year to identify conference/institute speakers, suggest topics and strands and to provide input from the field as to what’s needed by NESA membership schools in regards to professional learning.


DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
Boulder Valley School District/ Boulder, CO/ 2008 - 2011

In addition to serving as a member of the District Leadership Team and leading large-scale district initiatives, the primary responsibilities of the position included providing direct leadership and oversight of all district-wide special education programming. This involved management of both federal and state funding (including grant writing), recruitment and hiring for administrators, teachers and service providers, planning and delivering professional development for special education teachers/providers and leading the yearly new teacher induction program.


SPECIAL EDUCATION REGIONAL COORDINATOR
Boulder Valley School District / Boulder, Co /1994 - 2008
  • As a regional coordinator for special education services, the primary responsibilities were:
  • Collaborating with and coordinating services for principals, teachers, staff, and parents of students with special needs in fourteen Boulder Valley Schools (BVSD)
  • Supporting and coaching teachers and support staff on strategies, modifications, and accommodations for students needing intervention services
  • Serving on the BVSD Learning Services Curriculum Coordinating Council
  • Planning and implementing the new teacher induction program for newly hired special education teachers in BVSD
  • Planning and facilitating district-wide and site-based professional development opportunities for BVSD teachers and staff
  • Managing and supervising intensive learning centers for students with multiple disabilities and significant emotional disabilities in all BVSD schools
